Sometimes we fail to realize that we can actually decide to not allow fear to control our lives.
If we live a life of fear, it is because we chose to live that life. And any life without God is going to feel hopeless. If God's not there to diminish any fear, what hope is there?
I remember watching a war film once, where an army stood waiting for the enemy army that was hundreds larger than their own. The camera scaled across the small army, the men in rows, waiting, fear on their faces but they did not waver.
What would life be like to face the enemy, our greatest fears, without hope?
As my best friend so eloquently put it: "Fear is full of nothing but pain, death, loss, hurt, loneliness, rejection and separation from God. Fearless is all of God's wonderful promises blooming in our hearts..."*
My goal this summer is to live my life fearlessly. I don't want to face my fears without hope.
