I find myself turning to music when I'm feeling "blue"...it helps me feel so much better sometimes than going to have a good cry. It's as stress-relieving as crocheting, comforting as chocolate, and lifts my mood better than writing.
But just what kind of music takes away my "blues"? The one piece that I always turn to first is "The Letter That Never Came":

A simple melody on the piano that is sad and comforting at the same time. Thomas Newman has a very similar style in all his pieces and while he isn't my favorite soundtrack composer, he has made several beautiful pieces. This piece from "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is definitely my favorite by him. He captured the bittersweet moment in the movie with this simple piece. It is definitely worth listening to.
